Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Night Race in prospect

Following a compelling start to the season in Monza, Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo action remains in Italy for its second race weekend of the new season - and with a race at 2120hrs on Saturday, it marks the first venture into night racing in the series' history.

The 2013 calendar also takes Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo to the Misano race circuit in the coastal province of Rimini, just some 160km south-east of Lamborghini's spiritual home in Sant'Agata Bolognese, near Bologna, making rounds three and four of the series 'home' fixtures – all the more important in this, the 50th anniversary year of the establishment of one of the most alluring and fabled automotive marques.

Misano is a circuit of some provenance, now over forty years old, but having been progressively extended and modernised over the decades and now boasting 4.226kms of the artificial lighting on 17 generator-equipped lighting towers to provide the required lighting to stage night racing.

Misano has become a popular two-wheeled venue with its 75,000 spectator capacity, and recently underwent a name change to commemorate the young Italian MotoGP star Marco Simoncelli. Once upon a time, the circuit was run in an anti-clockwise direction, but today the clockwise circuit hosts the GP Aperol di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini Moto GP race in September, as well as a full catalogue of single-seater, endurance and truck races.
