Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo: Official Pre-Season Test Days in Vallelunga

DATA DI RILASCIO: 24 mar 2016   |   Sant'Agata Bolognese

Sant'Agata Bolognese/Campagnano di Roma, March 24, 2016.

The first Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe pre-season test days were held at the Piero Taruffi racetrack in Vallelunga, Rome, on March 22 and 23, in advance of the opening round at Monza over the weekend of April 23-24.

Teams and drivers were able to test the Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo during four intense sessions over 16 hours of track-time. The test sessions allowed for long driving stints (an average of 30 laps per session for each team) with hundreds of kilometres covered on the fast Italian racetrack in readiness for the season start: this year more exciting than ever with a record-breaking grid of nearly 40 cars expected in Monza.

The fourth and final test session scored the best performances for almost all teams: the reference time was set by Raton Racing, with Roberto Tanca and the 23-year old Danish driver Dennis Lind, with a laptime of 1'32"757 at an average speed of 158,543 km/h.

Imperiale Racing also achieved excellent chronometric results, with four cars on track assigned to Vito Postiglione/Alberto Viberti, Andrea Palma/Carina Lima, Simone Pellegrinelli and Steve Tandy. Also consistently in the top ranking during all test sessions were Bonaldi Motorsport (two cars piloted by Martin Kodric and Ricardo Vera) and Orange1 Team Lazarus with a Huracán LP 620-2 ST headed by Fabrizio Del Monte and Nicola De Marco.

The collective test days in Vallelunga also marked the debut of three new teams taking part in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo 2016: Dörr Motorsport, with fifteen years of experience in the German VLN Championship, on track with Jaap Bartels and Arne Hoffmeister; the Polish GT3 Poland team, which fielded two cars at Vallelunga; and the French team MN Development.
