Barwell Motorsport crew of Waberski-Martin prevail in endurance away round in Belgium

Sant’Agata Bolognese/Spa-Francorchamps, 21 June 2026 – Lamborghini stayed out of trouble in a safety car affected third round of the British GT Championship at Spa-Francorchamps to claim its second victory of the season, and first for Barwell Motorsport’s Jarrod Waberski and Alex Martin aboard their #78 Huracán GT3 EVO2.

The latest success marks the third time the Sant’Agata Bolognese brand has taken victory at the classic Belgian venue and the first time since 2021. It is also the 33rd triumph in the British GT Championship for Lamborghini (and 30th with Barwell Motorsport) and one that launches Waberski and Martin into title contention.

The sister #63 crew of Hugo Cook and Rob Collard bounced back from a difficult qualifying to be in the hunt for a podium finish, before dropping to fourth on the final lap.

For Waberski and Martin, the weekend began positively by setting the fourth-quickest time in the opening free practice session and sixth quickest in the second. Uniquely, the British championship was joined by the FFSA GT4 and supporting categories – as part of SRO’s Speedweek – on the same grid for the only away round of the year, meaning the track was far busier than usual with 55 cars on the grid.

The #78 of Martin got a superb getaway at the rolling start to move into the lead at Eau Rouge, before consolidating his advantage over the course of his opening stint, punctuated by two full course yellow periods. Behind, the #63 made significant progress from 12th on the grid – after Collard lost both of his Q1 laptimes due to track limits infringements – and was fourth early on. The second FCY and safety car intervention bunched the pack up once more and coincided with the pit-stop window for the GT3 runners.

Martin swapped with Waberski, with the #78 maintaining the lead of the race, while Cook took over from Collard as the #63 gained another place to run third. The order remained stable either side of a third FCY and safety car, with Waberski able to extend his lead over the chasing McLaren to nearly four seconds entering the closing stages. That gap ebbed and flowed through GT4 traffic but Waberski – who set the race’s fastest lap – kept his Huracán GT3 EVO2 pointing in the right direction throughout the remainder of his stint to secure his first career British GT Championship race win by 2.108s at the flag.

Cook came under pressure from the Aston Martin of Ross Gunn and McLaren of Ben Barnicoat as the race reached its conclusion, and the #63 fell out of the podium places on the final lap after encountering lapped traffic at the exit of Raidillon. Cook and Collard did, however, salvage fourth to bag more valuable championship points.

Jarrod Waberski (#78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2), race winner, said: “It was a really tricky stint but to be honest the car was mega from the start, managing the safety cars and the tyres. The car was so good today, I was able to just drive away from the others. I lost my voice because I was screaming so much in the car, but this victory is down to the team and to Alex. What a place to get the first win, at Spa and on Father’s Day too, this is his present!”
