Sant’Agata Bolognese/Monza, April 22, 2017.

Rik Breukers and Axcil Jefferies have resumed the talk begun in early March, when they conquered the title of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East. The two drivers (aged respectively 18 and 23) of GDL Racing dominated the first race in Monza, which kicked off the ninth edition of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe.

This success was built since the first qualifying session, when the pole position was conquered by Breukers, author of the first driving "stint", and never questioned; not even when the safety car entered the track and brought the group together, ten minutes before the end of the race.

Loris Spinelli and the “new entry” Mikaël Grenier finished right behind them with the Antonelli Motorsport car, but were demoted to the third position due to an unsafe release during the pit-stop. VS Racing duo formed by the Brazilian Raphael Abbate and the Japanese Yuki Nemoto finished second.

Despite being at his debut in the  Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe,  Jonathan Cecotto, the seventeen-year-old son of the former F1 driver and champion on two wheels Johnny Alberto, obtained excellent results. The Venezuelan set the fastest time during Q2 and then got a good fourth place together with the expert Vito Postiglione and with the colors of Imperiale Racing.

In the PRO-AM category, the victory and an eighth place overall were obtained by Shota Abkhazava and Kelvin Snoeks, who finished behind of their teammates of Artline Team Georgia, Sergey Afanasiev and Gerhard Tweraser. In the AM class, the success was conquered by the two Polish drivers of VS Racing, Andrej Lewandowski and Teodor Myszkowski.

Lastly, GDL Racing managed to score a victory also in the Lamborghini Cup, thanks to the Argentinian Andrés Josephsohn and the Sri Lankan driver, Dilantha Malagamuwa.

It is also worth mentioning the excellent debut of the duo of Leipert Motorsport formed by Jan Kisiel and Morgan Haber, who finished sixth overall behind the other new entry, Johnny Cecotto Jr (Jonathan’s brother), who shared the cockpit of the Huracán Super Trofeo of the team Bonaldi Motorsport with Milos Pavlovic.

Race 2 is scheduled tomorrow at 11:20 a.m.. It will last 50 minutes, with a rolling start and mandatory pit-stop. Live streaming available at http://squadracorse.lamborghini.com/live-streaming.
