Sant'Agata Bolognese, 16 February 2016.
Lamborghini Squadra Corse has confirmed its continuing commitment to supporting promising youngsters in motorsport, with its 2016 GT3 Junior Program.
Launched in 2015, it is the official program of Lamborghini's racing department, with the aim of supporting young drivers along a development path to experience the main GT races worldwide.
The 2016 edition of the GT3 Junior Program has developed to include 19 drivers(eight in 2015), 13 of whom come from the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, thus taking the leap from the wheel of the Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo to the Lamborghini Huracán GT3.
All drivers will take part in major 2016 GT championships with the Huracán GT3, a car which is enjoying successful sales and has given Lamborghini SquadraCorse the opportunity of increasing its GT3 Junior Program squad. Besides participating in competitions, the GT3 Junior Program drivers are committed to taking part in the Huracán GT3's development, contributing to itsconstant technical improvement. Test sessions during 2016 in Vallelunga will allow young drivers the opportunity to work closely with Squadra Corse staff, ranging from technicians to GT3 factory drivers whose list includes Fabio Babini, Mirko Bortolotti, Giovanni Venturini and Adrian Zaugg.
The GT3 Junior Program is the next step to Lamborghini Squadra Corse's Young Drivers' Program, for drivers under 26 wanting to develop in motorsport. The shortlist of names for the year 2016 will be announced in May.
Youth programs are a source of pride for Lamborghini Squadra Corse, as Giorgio Sanna, Head of Motorsport, is keen to stress:
"As Lamborghini Squadra Corse we have a strong commitment to supporting young promise in the world of Gran Turismo. The successful sales we have been experiencing with the Huracán GT3 this year have given us the opportunity to support a larger number of drivers. We are very proud that we have 13 driversfrom our 2015 Super Trofeo series who are going to participate in the world's most important GT championships supported by Squadra Corse, which means our youth program is working exactly the way we wanted."
