Middle East, 28 March 2019 – The Aventador S Roadster has been named ‘Best Supercar’ at the Middle East Car of The Year Awards (MECOTY), marking the brand’s second consecutive win in the same category after the Huracán Performante won the MECOTY prize in 2018. Announced during a gala event held earlier this week at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the prestigious award recognises the Aventador S Roadster for its class-leading performance figures.
The Aventador S Roadster, presented for the first time at the IAA 2017, represents a new benchmark in the world of V12 luxury super sport cars. The only mid-rear engine V12 super sports roadster, the Aventador S Roadster combines the technologies and driving dynamics of the Aventador S with an emotive, open-air driving experience. Accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.0 seconds and with a top speed 350 km/h, the Aventador S Roadster boasts a 6.5 litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine that produces an output of 740 hp and 690 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm.

The roadster’s unique status is enhanced by multiple colour and trim options, including new materials and extensive use of carbon fibre as well as virtually limitless potential through Lamborghini’s Ad Personam personalisation program.

Judged by a jury of leading motoring experts from across the Middle East, the MECOTY awards are the most comprehensive independent awards for carmakers in the region. The Aventador S Roadster was named the ‘2019 Supercar of the year’, ahead of finalists Ferrari 488 Pista and Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
