Formánek-Pretorius win race one as Rytter-Fraboni take Pro points lead
Sant’Agata Bolognese/Spa-Francorchamps, 27 June 2026 – Amid a European heatwave with temperatures exceeding 40° C, round three of the 2026 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season delivered a pair of hotly contested 50-minute races, with Oregon Team’s Silas Lovén Rytter and Patrik Fraboni moving into the lead of the Pro standings.
Anthony Pretorius and Bronislav Formánek (Micánek Motorsport) claimed an impressive overall and Pro-Am victory in the opening race, while Leipert Motorsport’s Swedish duo of Axel Bengtsson and Månz Thalin picked up their maiden success in race two. Egor Orudzhev and Shota Abkhazava celebrated their one-off return to the championship with Pro-Am victory in race second, charging from 14th to third overall. Interloper Todd Kingsford (Leipert Motorsport) won both Am race on his European debut, while Francesco Turzo (DL Racing) and Umar Basamalah (ASR) shared the wins in Lamborghini Cup.
Rytter and Fraboni profited from a race two retirement for Simone Iaquinta and Kevin Gilardoni (DL Racing) to take a seven-point lead in the Pro category, heading into the second half of the season at the Nürburgring in August.
Race 1
Bengtsson took pole position on Friday morning and led the early stages of the opening race from team-mate and Pro-Am leader Brendon Leitch. Second-placed starter Paul Levet endured a difficult getaway off the rolling start, dropping multiple positions. Aside from an early spin in front of the pack for Renaud Kuppens (Micánek Motorsport) at the exit of Les Combes, the start was a clean one. Leitch, making his first Super Trofeo appearance since last year’s World Finals then seized the overall lead at Pouhon on the sixth lap and stretched his advantage throughout the first stint before the mandatory pit-stops as Bengtsson came under increasing pressure from Jonathan Cecotto (Invictus Corse). As the pit window opened, Bengtsson was the first of the Pro runners to come in, swapping with Thalin for the second stint. Also pitting early was Pro points leader Gilardoni, who handed over to Iaquinta. The latter closed the gap to Thalin and the pair went side by side multiple times, even banging door panels on the run to Eau Rouge. This battling allowed the Oregon Team Huracán of Fraboni to inherit the Pro and overall lead, albeit only temporarily as the #36 machine slowed suddenly – therefore falling behind Formánek – before picking up speed once more. The final laps produced a confusing conclusion to the race, with the stricken cars of Philip Tang (DL Racing) and Karim Ojjeh (Rexal Villorba Corse) bringing out the safety car. The #11 of Formánek then mistakenly followed the safety car into the pit-lane on the final lap, with Fraboni almost making the same error. Initially, Iaquinta crossed the line first before the previous order was reinstated. This gave Formánek and Pretorius their first overall victory in Super Trofeo, while Fraboni and Rytter closed the Pro points deficit to Gilardoni and Iaquinta to just one courtesy of finishing second. Leitch and team-mate Don Yount (Leipert Motorsport) maintained their strong early performance, despite a car issue to claim second place ahead of Miguel Cristóvão and Paul Levet (VSR). In the Am class, debutant Ole Petersen led the early going for OP Motorsport with Ojjeh chasing hard behind. Following the stops, Super Trofeo Asia Pro-Am points leader Kingsford, racing solo for Leipert Motorsport, moved into the lead which he kept until the end, with Ulrich Niels Nybøe and Peter Hegelund (DC Motorsport) taking second ahead of Grzegorz Moczulski (GT3 Poland). Local drivers Stéphane Lémeret and Rodrigue Gillion were out of luck after suffering a right rear puncture. Meanwhile, in the Lamborghini Cup class, DL Racing’s Turzo produced a superb drive throughout to take the victory, beating Oregon Team’s Adalberto Baptista and GT3 Poland’s Holger Harmsen.
Anthony Pretorius (#11 Micánek Motorsport), race one winner: "Not the best qualifying for us this morning so we had to make the positions back up in the race and we had a very good start. Then it was just maintenance from there. We kept close to the front runners and handed over the car in third place, and then Bronek took our chances after the misfortunes of others and we ended up with the win overall so really, really happy for both of us. I got my first Super Trofeo win at Spa last year and couldn't think of a better way to start the weekend."
Race 2
Third in Pro in race one, UNIQ Racing’s Jerzy Spinkiewicz started the second race from pole position after a post-qualifying penalty for Van der Drift, but the Polish driver lost out to his Kiwi rival exiting the first corner. Behind, Pavlovic made it a three-car scrap for overall honours, before moving past Van der Drift into the Pro-Am lead just before pit-stops. After a frenetic opening salvo to the race which saw points leader Iaquinta duelling with Salonen for second in Pro, the order settled down approaching the start of the pit window. Spinkiewicz was the first of the front-runners to make his stop, with both Pavlovic and Van der Drift staying out until the end. Just like in race one, the #36 Oregon Team Huracán of Fraboni appeared to struggle early on, and dropped places to the Am leader Lémeret and the Rexal Villorba Corse entry of Nicholas Pujatti. After the pit window closed, Alessio Ruffini – having swapped with Milos Pavlovic – maintained the lead in the #33 ASR car but that advantage was soon wiped out after the safety car was deployed following an incident between Spinkiewicz and Gilardoni. The pair made contact at the exit of Les Combes, sending Gilardoni into the gravel and out of the race. The incident had larger championship consequences for Gilardoni-Iaquinta, who lost the lead of the Pro standings to Fraboni and Rytter. Spinkiewicz dropped behind Bengtsson – who had taken over from Thalin at the stops – and then received a drivethrough penalty which was converted into a 75-second post-race punishment for his role in the contact. That allowed Benedetto Strignano and Pujatti to finish second with Salonen and Henri Tuomaala taking third and making it a double podium for Leipert Motorsport. In Pro-Am, Orudzhev produced a super comeback drive from 14th to finish third overall and first in class, beating Levet-Cristóvão and the equally impressive Leitch-Yount. Am honours went the way of Kingsford again, with Renaud Kuppens taking second ahead of Ojjeh. In LB Cup, Basamalah took his first victory, while the Danish combination of Nina Østergaard and Peder Demant Møller second and Harmsen third. Early leaders, Donovan and Luciano Privitelio were in the pound seat either side of the pit window but contact with Turzo sent the #8 spinning at the Bus Stop.
Axel Bengtsson (#44 Leipert Motorsport), race two winner: “I was quite sweaty in the car in the second half of the race, I knew that Spinkiewicz was very quick, so I had to build a gap, and I managed to do that a little bit. Then it almost seemed like he gave up a little bit because maybe he knew he had the penalty, so I could just manage pace. Månz left me a great car, and I could just keep on driving, so everything felt perfect.”
Månz Thalin (#44 Leipert Motorsport): “It feels great. This is my absolutely favourite track, so to win here at Spa is a dream for me, it's my first ever Lamborghini podium and win, so really happy about that. Our greatest enemy this race was really the heat, just keeping the tyres alive, but we succeeded really good at that. I kind of messed up the start, I got squeezed in between two cars, so I was very afraid that I had a puncture, but it all turned out very well in the end.”
